Don’t Make It Too Hard

Don’t Make It Too Hard

A hymn we sang today in church reminded me of a backyard conversation I had several years ago with a neighbor.

I was feeling a little overwhelmed that day by all the things I felt I was supposed to be doing to live my faith.

My neighbor kindly listened then gently reminded me that the gospel is actually pretty simple.

Don’t make it too hard he was telling me.

That was the confirmation I felt today as we sang the hymn, “I Know My Father Lives.”

“I know my Father lives and loves me too. The Spirit whispers this to me and tells me it is true, And tells me it is true.

“He sent me here to earth, by faith to live his plan. The Spirit whispers this to me and tells me that I can, And tells me that I can.”

Maybe that’s the secret to living something you strongly believe in…

Don’t make it too hard.

That’s what the spirit seemed to be whispering to me today.
