Sunday Reflections: Away In A Manager & Jesus Once of Humble Birth
Christmas is more than just a baby born in a manager…
Away in a manger
No crib for a bed
The little Lord Jesus
Laid down His sweet head
From that humble birth in a manger, the Savior of the world was born…
Jesus, once of humble birth,
Now in glory comes to earth.
Once he suffered grief and pain;
Now he comes on earth to reign.
Now he comes on earth to reign.
He lived like no one else could live…
The cattle are lowing, the poor baby wakes;
But little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes.
I love thee, Lord Jesus; look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle till morning is nigh.
Because He loved like no one else could love…
Once a meek and lowly Lamb,
Now the Lord, the great I Am.
Once upon the cross he bowed;
Now his chariot is the cloud.
Now his chariot is the cloud.
“Come unto me,” He beckons, “Cast your burdens upon the Lord.”
Be near me, Lord Jesus; I ask thee to stay
Close by me forever, and love me, I pray.
Bless all the dear children in thy tender care,
And fit us for heaven, to live with thee there.
He is Jehovah, the Great I Am, the Father of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob…
Once he groaned in blood and tears;
Now in glory he appears.
Once rejected by his own,
Now their King he shall be known.
Now their King he shall be known.
The Lamb of God, the Son of God, Rabboni, “and they shall call his name Emmanuel.”
Once forsaken, left alone,
Now exalted to a throne.
Once all things he meekly bore,
But he now will bear no more.
But he now will bear no more.
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulder…”
Asleep, (Asleep,) asleep, (asleep,)
Asleep, the Savior in a stall!
Asleep, (Asleep,) asleep, (asleep,)
Asleep, the Lord of all.
“And his name shall be called Wonderful Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace!”
Have a beautiful Sunday!
We love you!
