Monday Morning Boost: Reflections On Love
A few reflections on love in honor of Valentine’s Day. First, a little gift of prose I wrote for my love Elisa on Valentine’s Day.
VALENTINE’S LOVE
Good morning my love
It’s Valentine’s Day
A moment for sharing
A moment to say
I love you so much
I love who I see
I love who you are
I love who you’ll be
Your love completes me
My cup overflows
I’m filled to the brim
You are my rose
This kind of love
More than a Valentine
It’s all about you and me
Our connected divine
Sometimes you just gotta have some fun and take a chance when it comes to romance!
TAKE A CHANCE ON ROMANCE
Enjoy the getaway
Maybe a bit of romance
Even if it means
You have to take a chance
Spread your wings
Venture a forward glance
Have lots of fun
Maybe you’ll even dance!
Then there are the times when we just need to be still and listen…
SHHH
Shhh
Listen
Yes
Listen
If you listen
You will hear
That which has
Always been there
Patiently
Waiting
Hoping
You
Will
Just
Listen
Shhh
Listen
Yes
Listen
It is there now
I love you
Sometimes love will require we walk the path of healing, a journey often requiring more than we may feel we can give. Yet, we still give. We fight the good fight. We listen to the whisperings. We get back up. We move forward. We accept.
THE HEALING JOURNEY
a feverish illness
clung to most tightly
though not desired
penetrating sweat
coating the soul
broken shards
of what once
was whole
to ask for help
a maddening course
stretching the soul
bruising the ego
burning bridges
to days gone
past but not
forgotten
the healing journey
given through mercy’s love
cleansing corrupted pain
willingly sought for gift
ready now to receive
the nurtured seeds
of eternal hope
a healing love
Healing is not always simple nor rarely easy. Yet, it works. And sometimes tears will help.
TEARS WILL HEAL
Tears will heal
Hurt that lingers
Crying will purge
Pain that confuses
Hugs will connect
Wounded souls
Mercy is the gift
Love will release
Love is a feeling. Thus, to feel is to love.
TO FEEL IS TO LOVE
To feel is to choose.
To choose is to understand.
To understand is to journey.
To journey is to accept.
To accept is to experience.
To experience is to process.
To process is to let go.
To let go is to receive.
To receive is to heal.
To heal is to love.
Perhaps the most important gift of love you could ever give is the gift of loving yourself, even if you feel broken. Actually, especially if you feel broken.
FINDING MYSELF IN THE BROKEN PIECES
In those broken pieces
Through shattered tears
Many hopeless nights
Filled with worn out cries
I am finding myself
When I get back up
Energy all but gone
Stepping forward in courage
Choosing to be strong
I am finding myself
Extending love
Despite sorrow or pain
Sharing that comfort
To nourish and lift another
I am finding myself
In the hope I cling to
Through the immersion of love
Broken pieces will mend
As souls create space to heal
I am finding myself
Finally, However you feel love in your life, or struggle to feel it, Elisa and I want to share our love for you. More importantly, we want to share with you the gift of the love of our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ. There love is all around us, even in the “song of a bird” and in the “blue, blue sky” as Clara W. McMaster writes her beautiful song “My Heavenly Father Loves Me.”
This song is one of Elisa’s most favorite of all time. We hope you enjoy her beautiful performance of this arrangement by Brent Jorgensen.
Have a great Monday! Thanks for letting me share.
And, yes, I love you!
Les
p.s. Take 13 minutes today to enjoy the love you feel in life.

While Valentine’s Day is traditionally a time of love, romance, and celebration, for some it can be a time of sadness, loneliness, or even bitterness. Elisa joined me last week for a special Valentine’s Day edition of Red Edge Live. We shared a bit of our story, including some of the happiness and joy as well as the heartache and despair. We also shared a few solutions we have discovered over 32 years (as of February 17th!) for creating great relationships, even with all the challenges of life and love.
