Monday Morning Boost: I love Mondays!
I love Mondays!
Just in case you didn’t know.
Always have. Always will.
I find the day refreshing, rejuvenating, and a great way to mentally reset.
Last week I explored the concept behind the Monday Morning Boost and the question: “Why Mondays?” Several of you chimed in with your thoughts, and I’m excited to share a few.
I’ll also share the event that inspired the name Monday Morning Boost.
The new week is a great way to create a mental reset for that seven-day cycle. Some of you agreed.
Hello Les, Enjoyed your Monday post this morning; I’m with you – I like Mondays because they’re a fresh start to the work week.

I’ve never had a problem with Mondays. In fact, I kind of like Monday’s because I view them as a new start.

Getting back to the routine gives us something “normal and expected” whereas you never know what might happen on the weekend adventure. Sometimes we work harder on the weekend and we need the normal to get the reset we need. Our bodies like routine and our minds know what to expect so we feel good. I, too, like Monday and look forward to the new week ahead.

Finding joy in what we do is a key ingredient to enjoying Monday… or any other day.
I love Mondays because I have the best job in the world working for the United Way of Cache Valley. Anytime we can go out and try to improve the quality of someone’s life it is always good. And I love Mondays because I get to read your Monday Morning Boost. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with all of us. They do make a difference for good.
– Doug Stephenson, United Way of Cache Valley
Hi Les, I’m thankful for Monday’s because I have the blessing of having the weekends off. For most of the jobs I’ve had in my lifetime, I have worked weekends and even had split days off. Now I’m able to have a calling at church and able to attend family gatherings out of town. There is a man where I work that greets everyone with “HAPPY MONDAY” every week. He usually gets a negative comment back but it does not deter him. I am happy to go to work on Monday because I have had a relaxing weekend.

Mondays can still be hard at times. For some, it may be the reality of going to a job they don’t like. Others may feel overwhelmed and even depressed. Sometimes, as shared here, Monday feels the impact of previous days.
Mondays are often unbearable, but I have found that the worst news has ALWAYS hit on Fridays. Therein, leaving me with the weekend to stew and literally be able to do nothing about it! I would much rather be slammed with something negative on a Monday with four more days to make it positive than on a Friday, wouldn’t you? Thanks Les for your booster shots!
– Liz Butcher, Butcher’s Bunches
Sometimes we need to change our attitude.
For many years while growing up my father would whine, complain, and make the weekends miserable because he had to get up and go to work on Monday morning. “Don’t ever grow up! It is not fun!” he would tell me. I carried that awful mindset with me into my adult life. Every Sunday would be a day of DREAD! I would get soooo depressed. About 10 years ago, I was [sign language] interpreting a class at UVU. The professor, Dave Litchfield, taught the class about positive thinking and looking in the mirror and saying how great a day we were going to have. He was a wonderful professor – very upbeat. He mentioned one day, “Do you think I wake up this happy every morning? NO! I have to look in the mirror every morning and say ‘Hey, Dave! You good-looking guy, you! You are going to have a GREAT day today!’ etc.” That changed my life! I now enjoy Sundays and Mondays and every day! Besides the typical ups and downs of life, I have a much more positive outlook! Thanks, Les, for the boost!

MONDAY MORNING BOOST INSPIRATION
No matter what we feel about Monday, we are agents of our own life and we can decide how we feel and what we convey to others. It was the idea of what we convey to others that inspired the “Monday Morning Boost.”
I had stopped into a local Cache Valley business on a Monday morning just over four years ago. While I waiting to meet with the owner, I asked the employee standing there how she was doing.
“Okay for a Monday, I guess.”
Her reply had a profound effect on me. Not just her words, but the tone of her voice and the look on her face. She was overwhelmed at the moment, with what I don’t know. But life was hard at the moment and the day being Monday appeared to be her way of excusing how she felt.
This wasn’t the first time I had heard such words about Mondays. Similar phrases abound abundantly. But what I experienced at that moment seemed to change me. I knew I loved Mondays and, for perhaps the first time, I wanted to share why. So I shared this with her:
“I love Mondays because if Monday is good then the rest of the week tends to be good as well.”
Thus, the Monday Morning Boost was born in hopes of sharing every Monday the same feeling of hope I experienced that day.
Have a great Monday!!! Thanks for letting me share.
p.s. Take 15 minutes today to share with someone a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Monday!
