Monday Morning Boost: Gaining the Red Edge
“Once upon a time, in a land far, far away…”
Not many stories start out this way anymore.
Nor do they end…
“And they lived happily ever after.”
Still, every person has a story within themselves. It’s the story of who we are, what we think, and future we will create. Our individual story, that’s totally our own, is one of the most important and one of the most powerful parts of our life.
While your story may have similarities to another person, or maybe even to a group of people such as your family, no other person will have your story as you live it from start to finish.
We write our own story. We dream it. We create it. We make it come true.
THAT’S WHY EACH OF US IS SO AWESOME!
Sharing our story, or a piece of our story, is one of the most powerful ways to connect with and influence another person. And when we get to know another person’s story, we create a better understanding within us.
Likewise, just as we have unique stories, so do businesses and organizations. The story of business is called their brand. Their marketing story is the message the business wants us to know about them, about what they do, and how their products and services can make a difference in our life.
We see the result of this storytelling every day all around us in marketing and advertising. Some studies estimated we are exposed to 3,000 to 20,000 marketing messages every day! Combine this astronomical number with all the “important information” we have to process every day, like what time to be to work, picking up a child from school, and what to make for dinner.
Talk about sensory overload!
Our brain cannot consciously process this amount of information. How do we remember the important stuff, let alone make smart decisions about what we purchase?
This is where businesses attempt to persuade us to buy from them. Some do this very well with a strong brand recognition that’s also favorably received by consumers as a whole. Then there are some businesses which may have strong brand recognition but a poor reputation.
Then there are the many businesses with not enough brand recognition to really make an impact.
Failure to achieve brand engagement is generally due to:
1) lack of clarity in the brand message
2) not clearly giving a value proposition to the consumer
3) lack of reaching enough potential buyers.
THAT’S WHERE I COME IN.
I help businesses better engage with people who need their products and services. I uncover and clarify their marketing stories, explain the value, and develop creative and persuasive marketing campaigns.
I have formerly launched Red Edge Marketing, a boutique marketing firm headquartered in beautiful Cache Valley. I’m focused on helping independent professionals and small businesses around the country “Gain the Red Edge” by clarifying their marketing and branding story.
