Sunday Reflections: Sunrise, Sunset
And God said, “Let there be light.”
But instead of marveling at the miracle, I seem to routinely ignore and too often take for granted the spectacular gift.
Why do I do this?
Am I really that busy?
Or am I just blind to beauty?
I may seem a little harsh on myself. Or maybe you’re thinking I’m not hard enough. Both perspectives just might be spot on!
Saturday I found a few moments to slow down and pause.
A meandering drive up Green Canyon with Elisa and our beautiful granddaughter Savannah allowed us to take in the beauty of a blossoming fall. We drove all the way to the end of the road, about 4 miles up, and continuously marveled and the majestic beauty of God’s wonderful creation. And we even got to see a goat when we reached the canyon base!
The drive was fun in our recently purchased truck, which if you didn’t know, is 100% Elisa’s truck though she lets me drive the mountain roads!
As beautiful as the canyon was, it was the stop right near home that created the greatest pause. And the greatest quiet watching the sun setting in spectacular Cache Valley fashion.
And that’s when I felt the quiet, the stillness of the soul the Savior speaks off when He said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).
Such is the hope and peace we hope you feel on this beautiful Sabbath Day. We hope you enjoy this beautiful rendition of Sunrise Sunset.
