Monday Morning Boost: My WHY For Being A Father

Monday Morning Boost: My WHY For Being A Father

Being a dad is the greatest frustrating joy ever!

Seriously!

In real seriousness, I love being a dad. I have 5 incredible kids who are all grown up now. They each are living good independent lives. Each in their own way is making a difference in the world.

Isn’t that the greatest gift a father could ever receive?

I love this thought from Ann Landers:

“It is not what you do for your children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves that will make them successful human beings.”

“KEEP YOUR CHIN UP SON”

It’s a wonderful blessing we have of being fathers. Even with all the challenges of raising kids, even with the self-doubts that may discourage our efforts, and even with those times we feel we may have failed, there is an incredible joy to be discovered every day being a father.

I’m grateful today for the many fathers who figured a role in my life, particularly my own father.

Of all my dad’s examples which permeate through my life, one piece of counsel sticks most firm.

“Keep your chin up, son.”

He rarely shared this encouragement. But when he did it was at a time when life was extra challenging. He helped me have the strength and courage to get back up and move forward.

What words of encouragement did your dad share with you?

MY WHY

Our five kiddos, the two who have joined the ranks, and the soon to be two grandbabies, are my WHY.

I share with you this little gem on this day of honor for the good fathers in our life. May we live up to what they hope we can be…

THEY ARE MY WHY
BY Les Patterson

They are my WHY

On Fathers Day
And every other day

They are my REASON

For getting up
And getting going

They are my JOY

As children
And as adults

They are my LOVE

No matter what
No matter why

They are my LIFE

It’s pretty simple
Though not always easy

They are my WHY

Have a great Monday! Thanks for letting me share!
