Monday Morning Boost: My Mudder
In honor of Mother’s Day coming up, I share with you a simple poem I wrote for a friend who was remembering her mother.
Actually, it’s kind of a weird poem. If you know me at all, or at least know my writing, it may not seem that weird at all. But, if you don’t know me, don’t say I didn’t give you fair warning!
MY MUDDER
By Les Patterson
Perfectly imperfectly
Her voice guided me
In life
Now from the dust
Oh the things
I thought she knew better
But didn’t
Perhaps her greatest teaching
She’d rolled over laughing
Even in her grave
If she knew
What I am revealing out loud
My teenage angst
Did me no good then
Nor now
When you think I’d know better
You ask who she is
It should be starkly clear
My mother
Or maybe she’s my mudder
That’s it my friends!
How will you remember your “mudder” this Mother’s Day???
Have a great Monday! Thanks for letting me share!
Les
p.s. Take 13 minutes today to intentionally remember your mother and share something with her. If, like me, your mother is no longer living, share something about her with someone you love.
