Monday Morning Boost: Shine Bright That All May Hear
Why is it that during this beautiful season of Christmas, a season filled with light, there are so many who struggle to see and feel the light?
On the surface, it’s easy to cast blame on the standard excuses… the busyness of the season, over-commercialization, the pressure to deliver on Christmas morning, etc.
As I have pondered this question over the last few days, I have come to feel focusing on the reasons is far less important than focusing on being a bright source of light.
“The world needs your light,” the message of this year’s Light The World campaign, inspires me to find ways to be a light for the world around me… my family, my neighbors, my friends, my colleagues.
The Light the World message invites us each to “pay attention to the ways the people around you have shared their light with you and others. Each day, highlight their small acts of kindness on social media. Hopefully the examples you share can inspire many more to reach out with love like Jesus did.”
The Light of Christmas is the Light of the World, a light borne from the depth of His everlasting love. I will strive to shine this kind of light. Such thoughts inspired these few lines I wrote a couple of years ago. They feel fitting to share again today.
SHINE BRIGHT THAT ALL MAY HEAR
By Les Patterson
The greatest gift you give
Is one that shines all year
Radiating His word
In a voice all can hear.
Sharing His loving grace
He who hung on the tree
Exemplifying love
In vision all can see.
Testimony of love
A witness that will seal
Bosom burning inside
In a way all can feel.
May we each shine a little brighter and #LightTheWorld that all may hear His loving voice.
Have a beautiful Monday. I love you, my friend!
Les
