In fact here’s just another ordinary day

His message was simply to say I love you for no special reason…

No April rain
No flowers bloom
No wedding Saturday within the month of June
But what it is, is something true
Made up of these three words that I must say to you

No extraordinary reason, no extenuating circumstances, no purpose needed…

No summer’s high
No warm July
No harvest moon to light one tender August night
No autumn breeze
No falling leaves
Not even time for birds to fly to southern skies

We get worked up too many times feeling we need a reason to express our heart, to share our affection, to show our love…

No Libra sun
No Halloween
No giving thanks to all the Christmas joy you bring
But what it is, though old so new
To fill your heart like no three words could ever do

It doesn’t need to be a holiday, birthday or anniversary. It doesn’t need to be because we are sorry or excited, sad or happy. Sometimes the very best reason is… just because…

I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care, I do
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart

I’m just writing my friends to say I love you
To say how much I care, ’cause I do
I love you for what you give to me
And in turn what you graciously receive from me
And I mean if from the bottom of my heart.
